Small Rigid Fan

Description

  • Small, hand-held rigid fan made of cloth with a wire edging. 
  • Black wooden handle also has a red tassel.
  • The fan is screen-printed with a picture of a Japanese woman and a flower background.

Background Information

  • Purchased as a memento by Robert Rawlings who drilled in Sumatra on two contracts between 1880 and 1902.
