Opium Pipe

Description

  • Opium pipe made from a dark brown bamboo branch. 
  • A metal bowl is attached by six small nails onto the side of the branch near the end.
  • The hollow end of the branch is sealed with a meal cap held by a single nail. 

Background Information

  • Purchased as a memento byRobert Rawlingswho drilled in Sumatra on two contracts between 1880 and 1902.
