Description

  • An adult male and boy from the Batak tribe in Borneo, dressed in tranditional clothing. The man is holding an asymmetrical, leaf-shaped blade and the boy is also possibly holding a blade. 

Background Information

  • Part of a photograph collection belonging to Robert Rawlings, who drilled for oil in Sumatra from 1890 until 1902.
