Wooden Box

Description

  • Hinged wooden box with lid
  • Box is painted black with a flowering tree painted in gold and Japanese writing on the lid. 
  • A black and gold, metal bird is attached next to the tree. 
  • The black paint inside the box has gold speckles. 

Background Information

  • Purchased as a memento by Robert Rawlings who drilled in Sumatra on two contracts between 1880 and 1902.
