  • Plain creamware bowl used for domestic purposes
  • Mottled black colour was produced by covering the piece during the firing process, allowing the vessel to absorb the smoke. 
  • Made by the Indigenous peoples of Peru

Background Information

  • Purchased by John Braybrook in Peru, South America. 
  • Mould-made ceramics which have been stained black are typical of the Chimu culture.
