Description

  • A large number of boats with families are crowded on a river in Singapore in front of the museum. 
  • Written on the back: "Scene in Singapore. Museum. Lots of Chinese Sanipans. Thousands are born and spend most of their lives on board these crafts and fishing is trading." 

Background Information

  • Part of a photograph collection belonging to Robert Rawlings, who drilled for oil in Sumatra from 1890 until 1902.
