Description

  • Poisonous dagger in a wooden sheath.
  • Wooden handle of the dagger is intricately carved.
  • Wavy blade is created by alternating layers of different types of metals, giving the blade a swirling pattern. 
  • Blade has a wide, asymmetrical base.

Background Information

  • Given to Leo A. Wilson by a Malayan Chieftain on the island of Sumatra. 
  • This type of dagger is called kris and is known for its distinctive wavy blade.
  • The number of waves on the blade is always odd.
  • The dagger functions as both a weapon and a spiritual item.
  • Poison was supposedly infused into the blade during the forging process.
  • The wavy blade would inflict a wound which would erupt in sores every six months.
