Picture appears to have been taken from a clearing in the jungle where residential bungalows are located.
Note on the picture reads: Bud Hemming was burned to death in this fire at Miri, Sarawak. April 27th, 1927".

Background Information

Part of a photograph collection belonging to James and Stuart Nisbet who worked in British Borneo (modern Sarawak, Malaysia) in the 1920s.
