Description

  • Several oil derricks are shown in the Yenangyaung oil field in Burma (modern Myanmar). 
  • A narrow wooden bridge supports a pipeline. 
  • To the left, two steel storage tanks are shown. The stacks poking up behind them belong to steam boilers, used to power the pumping and drilling equipment. 

Background Information

  • Many International Drillers worked at the Yenangyaung Oil Field in Burma (modern Myanmar), including William Gillespie, and Arthur Brown who played a role in destroying the field during the Second World War.
