Description

  • International Driller W.B.C. Isbister and his dog, along with his crew members, stand in front of an oil rig in Tarakan, Indonesia. 
  • The rig has been thatched to shade the equipment and workers from the hot sun. 
  • Isbister is wearing the traditional uniform of International Drillers, the white muslin suit, as well as a boater or Panama hat. 

Background Information

  • W.B.C. "Buzz" Isbister worked in the Dutch East Indies (modern South East Asia) beginning in 1900 for 20 years.
