Description

  • Contract made between the Indo-Burma Petroleum Company Limited and Robert McCrie for a period of three years for work in India or Burma (modern Myanmar). 
  • Contract is typed on four pages, with changes made in blue ink. 
  • Front page has a stamp from the government of India. 

Background Information

  • Robert McCrie, International Driller
  • Contract begins from Robert McCrie's arrival in Rangoon (modern Yangon, Myanmar) on October 10, 1919. 
  • His travel is to be paid for from Pittsburgh to the oil fields. This expense will be deducted from his salary for the first four months, and then returned to him after six months. 
  • Robert McCrie worked for 12 hours per day, from 5am to 5pm, for six days per week. He was paid $10 per day. For every month, he received one day of paid leave. 
  • He is to be provided with an unfurnished accommodation and water.
