Description

  • Showing the first oil well to be drilled on Lake Maracaibo, as part of the La Rosa oil field in Venezuela. 

  • The steel rig in the foreground is the property of Lago Petroleum Company, purchased from the British Equatorial Petroleum Company Ltd. 

Background Information

  • Part of a photograph collection belonging to Frederick Thomas Webb who worked in South America in the late 1920s.
