Employee Attendance Record

Description

  • Attendance record for Chinese workers under Robert Rawlings for the month of April, 1902. 
  • Numbers in the first column correspond to a numbered list of the employees on a separate document. 
  • The second column shows the monthly wages of each worker, ranging from 2 pounds to 30 pounds. 
  • The highest wage went to the foreman. General workers were paid 18 pounds per month. Other duties included waterman, watchman, and carpenter. 

Background Information

  • Part of a collection of mementoes belonging to Robert Rawlings who drilled in Sumatra on two contracts between 1880 and 1902.
